Brighton Technologies Initiates Demonstration of STAQ On-line Trading
System in Hong Kong and Taipei

Stock to Trade Under New Symbol for 30 Days

ALLENDALE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1998--Brighton Technologies Corp. (OTC:BGHT - news) Wednesday
announced that it has initiated demonstrations of its STAQ On-line network in Hong Kong and Taipei, Taiwan.

The terminals, which are connected to the STAQ On-line network, represent the first commercial on-line trading system to link
Chinese securities exchanges from outside the People's Republic of China.

The installation of terminals in brokerage offices in Hong Kong and Taipei is subject to government approval. STAQ On-line is
the first commercial on-line securities quotation and trading network operating in China. Installation of the demonstration
terminals was completed earlier this spring. The company has established links in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Shenzhen.

''These new installations represent a significant milestone in Brighton's efforts to create a modern commercial securities network
that will connect key Chinese securities exchanges. The newly installed systems have been well received by brokerages and we
look forward to full commercialization of STAQ On-line,'' said Kit Kung, Brighton Technologies' president and chief executive
officer.

The company also announced that it has secured terminal contracts from 30 securities firms in Beijing since February, following
Brighton's initial marketing of the on-line service. ''We are pleased with the enthusiastic response we have received from
brokerages in Beijing, the central hub of the STAQ On-line project,'' said Kung.

Kung added that the company initiated marketing the service in Chongqing City earlier this month and expects to sign on 15 to
20 customers by the end of June.

Separately, the company announced that effective May 8, 1998, its shares will trade under the symbol BGHT for the next 30
days, after which the symbol will revert back to BRTK. The change was initiated by Nasdaq to adminster a previously
announced 1-for-3 reverse stock split and a recent 3-for-1 forward stock split.

Brighton Technologies is an engineering company specializing in information and wireless networks, computer systems
integration and industrial automation for the Asian market. The company has headquarters in Allendale, with offices in Beijing,
Shanghai and Hong Kong.
