USBL Web Site, www.usbl.com, receiving record visits May 13, 1998 11:44 AM
MILFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1998--The United States Basketball League USBL announced today that visits to its Web Site, www.usbl.com, are at an all-time high.
The USBL has received 80,000 hits in the first week of May.
This is up 700% from last year when the USBL received 10,000 hits for the same time frame.
Visits to the USBL Web Site have come from all over, including visits from 28 foreign countries. Fans and those interested in the USBL are dialing in to the site to investigate opportunities for expansion franchises; e-mailing comments in reference to information on USBL Stock; participating in contests; downloading discount coupons to USBL games; visiting the USBL store; following the nightly box-scores and League standings; and learning more about the USBL.
Starting this Spring the USBL has also created a USBL Chat Room. Fans are able to subscribe to the Chat room for free and interact with other fans. They can talk about their favorite USBL player, favorite USBL team, and ask questions to the USBL Office. Over the last month, since the Chat Rooms were established, the USBL Chat Room has over 400 members. A separate contest for Chat Room members is planned for next week.
Also new for this Season is the USBL box-score and statistical database. Each day fans can read the daily box-scores and follow their favorite players. This new database will allow fans to access old box-scores for their favorite USBL team or all the teams.

The USBL is currently in its 13th Season of play. The USBL is made-up of twelve teams in three divisions. Since 1985 the USBL has sent 114 players on to the NBA. Among the number of Alumni are Muggsy Bogues, Anthony Mason, Chris Childs, Charlie Ward, Mario Elie and John "Hot Rod" Williams.
Although there are other publicly traded sports teams such as the Boston Celtics BOS and Ascent Entertainment GOAL owners of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche, the USBL is the first and only publicly traded Sports League allowing fans to become owners USBL . |
