CRLS is mainly into preclinical/Phase I, both of which are lower growth and lower margin businesses than Phase III, IBAH's main area of focus. Having said that, both companies have had difficulties making any money over the past few years in an industry where it's tough to lose money. That's why they make attractive turnaround acquisitions. CRLS looks cheap. It has the same backlog now (approx $16m) as it did a year ago, and last year the company generated $40m+ sales, but valuation is rock bottom. I can see MDS getting its check book out again, but for real this time. Anyone else out there with a view?
