Watching the action today on SYCR, it occurred to me how many people are becoming rich supplying patches, services and applications to try and make Windows perform as it ought to out of the box... Many of my friends bought Wintel boxes because of the low initial price, but after adding cards and apps (they even need one to uninstall programs; what if they want to uninstall the uninstaller?), they end up spending more than I did for my Mac... To upgrade my Mac from System 7.5.5 to OS 8, a drastic upgrade, I inserted the CD and pressed one button. No problems at all. It makes me mad to think that the biggest, most powerful software company in the world cannot ship a better product. It makes me think that they are taking advantage of my friends who have not yet had their computing lives touched by grace...
