Terrence, I think Greenpeace is one of the most wonderful organizations on earth, because it is large and strong and PROTECTIVE of the planet. I understand fully that it makes it more difficult for business interests to poison our skies and waterways, and kill all the fish and burn down the rain forests.
I think that is absolutely great, because businesses NEED checks and balances to make sure they operate in appropriate ways. Unregulated, they are governed by their own short-term interests and the profit motive, pure and simple, and earth will be destroyed unless there are regulatory agencies monitoring their activities.
I feel so strongly about this that I just became a citizen of Waveland, their new country. There are people from all over the world there, online, and there is a chat room!!! Apparently Greenpeace took over a tiny rock off Scotland, so it has a geographical location, but mostly it is so activists all over the world can become citizens and share ideas over the Internet.
