I cannot find anything about Dell at this link, some help anyone. stocksite.com maybe the content at this address has already been changed...
As far as being bearish on Dell...There are plenty of things to short or put out there. What I like about being bearish on Dell, having considered Amazon and Microsoft and Excite, is that it seems to be the business which is the easiest to copy, the most difficult to defend, and the most over-rated--of these four, very overvalued stocks.
Most of these highfliers however will not turn down until the market turns down--but at that time they are probably likely to drop much faster than any index.
We are probably anywhere from a few months to a couple years from that inflection point. Still, with these valuations it is tempting to throw some chump change at a handful of puts etc.
For now I think it is too early to do any really large bearish bets--the first couple scares are likely to attract the buy-on-dip crowd.
I want to be there when all these newly rich American boomers see the first statement from Fidelity or Janus that shows they are finally losing money. After the second statement or so they will finally get scared.
Fear is a great motivator--you will see a lot of "long-term investors" get on their fancy PII's, log into their MF company, and cash out in the wee hours of the morning before Wall Street opens.
"Honey, I had a bad feeling about the market, and, well, I couldn't sleep last night, so I got up at 2am, made a ham sandwich, and sold all our Mutual Funds". ha ha he he
(Mike is sour grapes that Dell wont sell him a cool PII-400 for a reasonable price;-) Maybe I'll have to overclock a Celeron and move my old cdrom, blaster and modem into a new mainboard...)
Hey, why are Dell's too expensive anyway? A: because there is a sucker born every minute. |
