Mirror, mirror on the wall, tell me when will share buy-back starts so Creaf can stand tall. The share buy-back was given the green light in March 98, but it may take up to a year for the necessary paper works to be in place before actual share buy-back can starts. The main changes is to amend the Singapore Companies Act that forbid Singapore registered companies to buy back their own shares. they will also like to implement some safe guards measures to prevent abuses arising from the buy-back. This is not a big problem as they can always refer to other countries that allow buy-back for guidances. Normally Singapore govt executed their decisions swiftly, but this time I guess with the Asian crisis, unfortunately this issue may take a back seat for a moment.
