Celeryroot, Anyone can enter SI with the correct URL. However some can be viewed only by members, depending on the exact URL used (several URLs will point to the same post).

This is your post. This URL requires an SI name and password:
Message 4450686
This URL accesses the same post but can be accessed by anyone:
Message 4450686
go_lgnd's links are in the member's only form although he indicates that he is not a member.

If you access SI via techstocks.com, and SI ahsn't already stored your name and password, you can read but not post.. However, if you tried using go_lgnd's links, they would require a name and password (because the URL's used to link were copied from an SI member accessing the post used to copy the URL).

I am a member, but if I haven't given my name and password previously I cannot use go_lgnd's links without giving my name and password.

Here's one of the links in his post:
exchange2000.com
If you are not a member, or if you are a member but have not yet told SI who you are, it requires a name and password.
If a non-member had copied the URL, it would be:
techstocks
or
www2.techstocks
or
www3.techstocks
and the URL world not require a name and password.
