More gossip on Indonesia.

All the foreign brokers in Jakarta have shut up shop for the time being and are trying to get home without getting shot. Sudirman, the main business street, is blocked as is the toll road to the airport. The stock market is closed for all intensive purposes.

The killings will continue to rise and the situation will continue to deteriorate. Wiranto is holding a press conference at 2pm, probably to declare a state of emergency. Opposition leader Amien Rais is holding a press conference at 3.30 apparently to announce an interim government led by Emil Salim. I find it hard to believe that Suharto will be able to reassert himself and the military's loyalty is being stretched to breaking point. The risks are immense.

+ Watch the Indian Rupee - I think its going to go to 45 as a result of regional pressure and the "nuclear fallout"
