Last night I spoke with a MLA from Alberta about "what would be the royality paid to Alberta regarding a diamond mine in this province". The MLA didn't know but was certain it hadn't been discussed at any assembly in the last five years.
After we tossed it around, the price paid to Alberta with oil, gas, coal etc. amounts from 2 to 5% (of the top) depending on exploration cost...grand father clause...type of oil etc.
The feeling was that, if there was ever going to be a Diamond Mine the subject would have to be discussed, but probably would end up in the same price range as the above.
Now my question is the following; how would it compare to other mines re. Africa, Australia, N.W.T.?
