My only question is who decides whats better for the consumer? The consumer can only decide whats best when they are exposed to more than one choice. MSFT does not allow that due to the nature of its OS. The future according to Gates may not be the future I want.

Also your comment about the consumer being the ultimate judge of a monopoly I think is in error. When Standard Oil was broken up, the question of the consumer was not the deciding issue. The deciding issue was did the Standard monopoly discourage innovation and competition. Any monopoly will intentionally keep prices low to discourage competition.

I have used a Mac and found it greatly superior to Windows both in ease and speed.
