Nematron Announces Microsoft(R) PC 97 Compliance For its Industrial Control Computer(TM) Line

ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Nematron (Nasdaq: NEMA - news) announced today that its Industrial Control Computer(TM) industrial PCs have achieved Microsoft's PC 97 level of compatibility for Microsoft's operating systems. Microsoft defines hardware listed as 'PC 97' as ''compatible with Microsoft Windows NT(R), Microsoft
Windows 95(R) and Microsoft Windows 98(R). It also meets the Designed for Windows NT and Windows 95 requirements, such as APCI and OnNow. PC 97 is currently the cutting edge of PC hardware design.''

''Currently, none of our major competitors have achieved the PC 97 logo from Microsoft,'' said Tim Wallaert, Sr. Vice President of Product Management. ''We believe that this is a significant competitive advantage. With this certification level, we are able to protect our customer's investment in hardware by making sure it will work without problems with Microsoft's current and future operating systems.'' Nematron also recently introduced Pentium II 300Mhz versions of the Industrial Control Computer(TM) product line to make these units the fastest industrial PCs on the market.

In order to obtain the PC 97 logo, a computer manufacturer must pass a series of stringent tests defined by Microsoft. John Pasko, who executed the tests at Nematron, commented on the process required to achieve PC 97. ''To pass PC97, our Qualification lab was required to run a battery of rigorous technical system test suites, which are supplied by the Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) on CD-ROM. We were in constant contact with the WHQL while testing our current line of Industrial Control Computer(TM) products
with Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95 OSR2 and Windows 98 beta RC0 to ensure that we were able to meet the standards. We're all pretty proud of being able to say that Nematron's PCs meet the highest standards for hardware as established by Microsoft.''
