SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 14, 1998--Imaging Technologies
Corp. (NASDAQ:ITEC), pioneer in the development of high-quality
digital imaging solutions, today announced the release of the first of
its new generation of LaserImage(R) Adobe(R) PostScript(R) digital
printer controllers.
This LaserImage 4000 controller is being incorporated into Korean
peripheral manufacturer Elex Tech's Laser Station 2460 monochrome
printer. The Engineering division of ITEC, formerly know as PCPI
Technologies, developed the LaserImage family of controllers for the
mid-range color and monochrome printer market.
"This is the first ITEC product developed and fully localized for
an Asia Pacific market," said Brian Bonar, chief executive officer of
Imaging Technologies. "It is just one of a range of next generation
Adobe PostScript controllers we anticipate will be released this
year."
"This product release represents a number of firsts for ITEC,"
said Joe Pfeuffer, vice president of Engineering. "This is our first
Adobe PostScript controller which incorporates our new generation
off-the-shelf NEC VR4300-based design. It is our first controller to
utilize XLI Image Enhancement, which can boost overall image
resolution from 600 dpi to 1200 dpi on a standard 600 dpi engine. It
is also our first product to incorporate double byte technology, which
is needed to support Hangul, the Korean alphabet, Kanji and other
Asian-language characters."
Elex Tech's Laser Station 2460 monochrome printer is the newest
line of digital printers developed by Elex Tech and localized for the
Korean office market. The Laser Station 2460 features 24 page per
minute output and can print at up to 1200 dpi resolution. It also
provides full support for Hangul and Korean printer emulations. The
Laser Station 2460 will immediately begin shipping throughout Korea,
selling for approximately US $3500. Elex Tech is one of Korea's
leading manufacturers of computer peripherals.
The LaserImage 4000 features Adobe PostScript Level 2 and a
versatile architecture to enable this controller to satisfy the
requirements of a variety of monochrome and color printer
configurations with limited modification. The LaserImage controller
boards for the Elex Tech Printer will be manufactured by ITEC in the
United States. Final assembly and shipment will take place at Elex
Tech's manufacturing plant in Seoul.
