Aware Announces Wavelet-Based

Image Compression Plug-in For Photoshop

AccuPress(R) Plug-In Provides High Quality Image Compression

Bedford MA... February 22, 1996 Aware, Inc. announces the launch of AccuPress for
Photoshop, a plug-in for Adobe(tm) Photoshop(tm) that enables users to compress
digitized images at extremely high ratios for rapid transmission and efficient storage
while still retaining excellent image quality.

Based on wavelet compression technology, which utilizes a relatively new field of
mathematical theory, AccuPress for Photoshop enables users to compress digitized
images by as much as 150:1 so they can be transmitted at speeds two to three times
faster than possible with the original file.

AccuPress compresses both 8-bit gray scale and 24-bit color images. Unlike other
compression techniques which provide users with only three or four quality choices,
AccuPress enables users to select the compression ratio that is best for the image -
from 4:1 to 150:1. AccuPress for Photoshop provides superior compression
performance - more than two to three times what is available from existing
compression technology. The software ensures that users have the smallest possible
file size, and still have a high quality image.

AccuPress for Photoshop is an excellent tool for pre-press applications," said Ed
Reiter, Vice President Advanced Products. "For example, it would take less than a
minute to send a 7-megabyte color file that was compressed at 30:1 - a fraction of the
time that would have been needed for the original image. We've found that images
compressed at these ratios have the same excellent quality and clarity that businesses
require."

AccuPress for Photoshop saves users valuable time and money. Images are quickly
and easily compressed via the "save as" option. In addition to compressing and
saving Adobe Photoshop images, the AccuPress Plug-in also allows users to read
compressed files generated by other applications that are in AccuPress format.

Adobe Photoshop Plug-In modules are software programs developed by Adobe
Systems or third-party vendors in conjunction with Adobe Systems, to extend the
standard Adobe Photoshop capabilities.

The AccuPress Plug-in is available immediately for Macintosh platforms. The single
version price is $395. Copies of the software can be obtained from Aware sales at
(617) 276-4000 or via e-mail at sales@aware.com. A version supporting Adobe
Photoshop for Windows will be available in late 1996.

Aware, Inc. is a world leader in "last-mile" technologies for broadband communications
and high speed access to the Internet. Founded in 1986, Aware was the first company
to commercialize wavelet compression software, a powerful tool for compressing
digital information. The company currently offers products for compression of seismic,
fingerprint, medical, remote sensing, and multimedia data.

ADOBE SYSTEMS (ADBE) 39 5/8 +5/8. Recently volatile stock of software concern has made a nice move from the $33 level traded earlier this month. Market has quietly gone positive on shares over the last two week, given an additional boost of confidence when company released its upgraded version of Photoshop on time and with high expectations. Industry analysts are expecting sales derived from Photoshop 4.0 and expected upgrades to PageMaker in the 1st qtr to drive earnings in the 1st-half on '97. Stock's primary backer, Brown Brothers, believes that investors are starting to forget past experiences with this stock --mainly stock's collapse from a 52-week high of $74.25-- and are showing renewed interest. Main question that Brown Brothers has is what will be the driving force behind sales once momentum from product introductions wears off. Nevertheless, firm remains positive on the stock, standing by its upgrade to short-term "buy" from "hold" on 10/09.
