Rainer,
This issue is so common in hardware and software companies. The recognize revs up to Midnight if they have to in order to pull off their numbers.I often track dso's to gauge accounts receivables. One result can be like we saw with compact and stuffing the channels with goods. When days to sales outstanding gets sequentially higher I get very suspicious about the products acceptance and client base.It would be nice if there were some standards set withing certain industries so dummies like me didn't get fooled with individual companies and their "creative accounting".As one CFO said "I can pull a penny out of anywhere".
I wish I could contribute to this thread, but accounting is not my strong suit. But I will enjoy learning from the posts.
Regards,
Barbara
