Xybernaut soars after Sony deal

NEW YORK, May 14 (Reuters) - Shares in wearable computer maker Xybernaut Corp. soared on Thursday, a day after the company said it was finalizing a manufacturing deal with Japan's Sony Digital Products Inc, a Sony Corp. affiliate. Thursday, the stock was up 1-17/32 at 4-1/2 in brisk trading on the Nasdaq. Company officials were not immediately available for comment. The Fairfax, Va.-based company said Wednesday it met with Sony to finalize a manufacturing agreement. Sony will make Xybernaut's Mobile Assistant (MA IV), a wearable computer, Xybernaut said in a release. "We believe that the MA IV will be the leading wearable computer on the market," Edward Newman, Xybernaut's president said in the release. Tuesday, Xybernaut introduced webAssist, a software product that allows users to navigate the World Wide Web and Intranets by voice. Xybernaut provides hardware, software and service solutions to the wearable computing industry. |
