Upcoming Zenit launches . . . The scheduled date of the Zenit 2 launch from Plesetsk is June 23. This flight will be carrying 6 satellites: Resurs O2-N1, Fasat-Bravo, TM Sat1, Tech Sat 1b, Safir 2, and LLMS. There is scuttlebut that there may be a secret military Zenit launch later this month. This is very important to watch, as any big problems could affect the July 15 Globalstar launch. The Zenit has not flown since the failure in May 1997. The Zenit has been extensively redesigned by an international consortium, due to its selection for Boeing's Sea Launch. It should be a much more reliable vehicle than previously.
