It is not very clear to me what you mean by "authorized" shares.
The equity of a company -- as far as I can remember -- is made of
treasury stock (authorized and not issued) and outstanding or float.
For all intents and purposes, a stock split does nothing materially
as the market capitalization remains the same.
The only positive effect is that it increases the marketability of
the stock. // CA
