CLEARWATER, Fla., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Lightwave, Inc. (Nasdaq: DIGL - news) -- a supplier of Lightwave
Management solutions for advanced, high-speed telecommunications networks -- today announced the appointment of George

telecommunications industry, most recently as senior vice president, worldwide sales, at Boston Technology, Inc., a
$250-million global supplier of systems and software for half of the world's top 20 telephone companies in 13 countries.

''George has a specific set of management skills and experiences that correspond to our immediate objectives and long-term

phase of our development.''

Under Matz's sales leadership, Boston Technology was awarded the largest contracts in its history, including agreements with
BellSouth, Bell Atlantic and Southwestern Bell. His staff at the company consisted of approximately 100 marketing, sales and
support professionals, divided equally between U.S. and international locations. Boston Technology was acquired by
Comverse Technology (Nasdaq: CMVT - news) in January 1998.

Before joining Boston Technology, Matz was executive director, worldwide sales, at DGM&S, an international supplier of
telecommunications products and services for advanced intelligent networks. Previously, he was director, North American
sales, at Summa Four, a manufacturer of digital switches for public switched networks and wireless communications. Matz also
held regional marketing and sales management positions at Microtel, the Canadian subsidiary of GTE, and Continental Telecom
