LT,

> oil ; good, not bad

short term you are right. but long term (you said you are a
long term investor) , we're a lot closer to $12 a barrel than
to $26. that's reality oil prices are low. when would this
be bad? when oil tops $20 a barrel again.

> interest rates ; good, not bad

again, a blip. i don't care if interest rates hold at 7%, 6%, 5%, 4%...
they are NOT 13%, 12%, 11%, 10%.
the point is that again they are very LOW long-term. the
rest is just short term fine tuning.

> inflation ; good, not bad

every annoucement on see on the news says inflation is
almost non-existant. you may have valid points about
food. man has been pretty stupid about growing natural
food in artifical environments.

salary increases are being viewed postitive to increase
real income, sustaining the ever larger economy. the
numbers are going up without inflation. unbelievable?
a gift from the gods?

> when the masses are living it up you want out

even if there are signals of the end (which i don't
think there are) the "end" stage you mention has
considerable length...going up. we are still do to
go up severely in the beginning of the end. as
12/99 approaches...ok. we have a long ride up
before then.l

there are some stocks this applies to. for instance,
i bought cfon yesterday at 8.75 and sold today for 12.87.
i kept a couple of shares for the long term. it may continue,
but it is notorius for false rallies. dell is not cfon.
dell is not a mass hysteria stock.

-----

an earlier post you based a dell demise on a drop in
demand for computers, due to bad world conditions,
consumers having limited income, and not buying
computers. would you do without a computer?
i don't think so. they are an integral part of your life,
and you will end up buying several more thoughout
your life. it has become a necessity in your life as
well as millions of others. so even if we had a
bad economic world, people would still buy computers.
