Funk: Here's my telephone line situation. I now am operating on a 28.8 modem, which usually connects at full speed. I recently moved to the coastal boonies of SC. The telephone company is Sprint (the same company that does long distance), but I'm not sure how serious they are about the telephone business here in the domain of Bell South. When I had a second line installed here, the technician said the lines to the house (which serve me and two neighbors, I believe)are 30 years old at least and this would be the last line that could be added without new lines being laid into the ground. Your opinion, please, on the following: Should I try a better modem altho Gateway doubts I'll be able to connect at a faster speed? Should I order a third phone line to see if that will actually result in newer lines with increased capabilities? (That could take some time as Sprint is cutting costs by laying off workers thus creating a queue for service.) I know I should be asking these questions of Sprint, but, trust me, I don't think I can get to somebody who really knows the answers.
Today, even keeping a relatively simple screen, Marketmakers either lagged considerably or had no relationship with Time & Sales. And I'm pretty sure any attempt to display information on two stocks on one screen would invite disaster.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. |
