Sure. I've seen it happen before. Most recently in the late 80's. It's called a "massive market pullback." It tends to have the same effect on analysts careers as Raid does on cockroaches'. Actually that's not a bad analogy. Both species are parasitic pests who need to be exterminated every now and then.

It would be interesting to do a study on the rate of growth in analysts vs. stock market activity. I think you would probably come up with analyst saturation as a leading indicator before a crash.
