Globalstar is just as "voice only" as iridium. They both support data in a limited fashion just as cell phones do now.

Teledesic and Cyberstar are the only data-oriented sat networks, and neither of them is designed for the mobile user.

Mobile access to a sat is expensive as the antannae has to be much smaller so you can tote it around, and therefore, the sat must be much lower or broadcast at a much higher power.

Its only practical for voice right now, unless you're willing to pay $1.00 or more a minute to send data.
