HOUSTON, TEXAS--Schlumberger Geco-Prakla has been awarded a contract by Mobil Canada for three 3D seismic survey programs offshore Nova Scotia, eastern Canada.
The three surveys, located 150 km off Nova Scotia's southeast coast, will cover about 1,500 sq. km. The acquisition, scheduled to start in June 1998, will be performed by Geco Topaz operating in six-streamer mode. The Geco-Prakla TRILOGY(a) onboard data management system will deliver a "Quick-Look" 3D cube from the vessel shortly after completion of each survey.
Mobil Canada (as operator), Shell Canada and Imperial Oil Ltd. are partners in the area of mutual interest with recoverable reserves estimated to be 18 Tcf of natural gas.
Geco-Prakla was selected for the acquisition because of "their quality of service and proprietary technology, as well as their performance on last year's program," said Ken Miller, Mobil Vice President, Eastern Canada.
Geco-Prakla, an operating unit of Schlumberger, provides integrated exploration services worldwide and is a world leader in seismic data acquisition, data processing and nonexclusive data sales.
