I have found that when some large shopping plaza's that I attended regularly expanded and got busier, the walk across the parking lot and then through the mall became longer & longer. I found that I began to avoid those malls, driving further to shop elsewhere. Frequenting the smaller malls became habit, even during those long periods of time (several months) when my back was not a major problem. I would sometimes even walk several miles before or after shopping, for exercise needed to help my back! Another factor may be my dislike of large crowds.
