bullmarket, The locals were clearing fields for agricultural purposes. Due to El Nino phenomonon, Mexico has been very dry this year- and the fires got out of control and are burning thousands of acres.... Houston officials advise not to work outside or to do workouts,as they believe that some of the pesticides that are used in Mexico, such as DDT, Endrin, may be entrained in some of the soot particles and are "hitchhiking northward".... The traditonal southerly flows off of the Gulf this time of year are picking the smoke from the fires right up and sending it northward over the Bay of Campeche.
