My understanding is that they have bought some property which is full of trees, which they will sell to people for some amount per tree, and then put a plaque on the tree with that persons name on it. Another property has already been cut, and they will, for $10, plant a seedling and then put a plaque of the persons name on it (the adult trees they will target adults, the seedlings, schoolchildren). This would sound like a situation where the trees can't be cut, obviously.
On a better note, I've been told they don't clear cut, they cut out only selected trees. This is environmentally friendly, I believe, and laudable, as long as they can do this and still ship the volume needed to get that $1 per share dividend to retire on we all want.
(I don't mind clear-cutting necessarily, depends on where its done, as long as seedlings are planted back immediately).
I believe I have Russon's number, but I don't think they would be the ones to ask about how credible they are. Madera's staff certainly think they are, and it looks like they learned their lesson on Vanity and did their research. But I don't know.
I'm of the belief that the Fernandez family will pull Madera back together, if they focus on the goal and, well, not go blindly into the forest, so to speak.
Sign me, worried but optimistic... -Ron-
