Bruce, you're correct in your statement. In a full acquisition, as a public company(or a private) it is the shares that receive value based upon a certain number of equations that is put together to value the company at the time of acquisiton. Everything is included from assets to the broom in the closet when the valuation of the stock is given.

In an elected stock buy back program, it is stated that the company can buy back, up to, but not exceeding. So they can buy $1,000,000 or $5,000,000.
