There's nothing wrong with playing both sides of the street. I have a portfolio of stocks at a "real-world" off-line broker that I never touch. I just keep adding. SO, T, ALD, HIB, exciting stuff like that. That stock will pay for my kids to go to a nice military academy somewhere and then they'll get the rest when they plant me in the compost pile.

On the flip side, there's nothing like joining a mob of frothing daytraders to pump n' dump a chosen stock. I know, I know. Somebody has to lose for us to win, but that's the name of the game.

Over the long term, I'm about even with the returns on the "don't touch" portfolio and the hump n' dumpers. But it's daytrading that keeps people like me off the streets and away from your children.
