Thanks for your input, Davef. Mr Bond enjoys fair play but senses he is on the wrong thread for that.

Nevertheless, Mr Bond likes to give everyone a chance, and will respect anyone else's views even if they pad their advice out with words like "slime", "lavatory attendant" etc.

Mr Bond wants to know if Davef, Mr Pink, or any of you shorters out there has made a lot of money out of merger arbitrage in the past, and if you have a view on Chrysler/Daimler, SBC/Ameritech or any other recent merger announcements.

Mr Bond is grateful for all honest advice, although he still believes heavily in doing his own research and making his own mind up in the end. Many thanks in advance.
