John, the name Amati derives from the great Amati violin makers of Cremona Italy. They not only perfected a great instrument but also taught others the art of such construction. The analogy is superb musical transmission from a violin to superb digital transmission from a modem over copper wires. They used to call what John Cioffi was creating an Amati, and the name stuck. This information was related to me from John Cioffi. I always wanted an Amati violin but could never afford one. I'm proud to have the stock. I can't wait to have the modem.
