I'm sure you would agree that HWP's Wednesday pre announcement, two days before scheduled earnings release, was bizarre, particularly for a widely held company. Pre-announcements are usually disclosed sometime into the Q, or perhaps immediately after if significant events occurred late in the Q.

The fact is, you took a chance that HP would not preannounce and did not buy puts. I don't see how you can be mad at them for preannouncing only two days prior to earnings, when you evidently weren't hedged prior to to Wednesday anyway.
