Hello Joyce,

I'm new to the group. You stated that because DELL had record earning s that means the PC have eaten into the workstation market. This may have been true if the product cycle was in maturation stage. Pc's are growing at rate of 20% a year while workstations are at 30%. Also, the workstation market is much more profitable than the low margin PC's. In fact you might have heard that Sun is lowering prices on their UltraSparc chips. In that article, it stated that during the second quarter that Sun's marketshare increased 36.1% to 41.7% this study was based upon revenue and done by an outside source named Dataquest. Companies purchase as much if not more computers than consumers, these companies will want the best. With Sun lowering their prices not because of losing marketshare but by putting a quality product (the best) in the same ballpark as the Windows NT, which is the Yugo of workstations. It's what professionals call "squeezing the life out of a competitor". Business is war and SUN's making all the right moves! Also, a word for the wise, 98 LEAPS at 70 only $8.75. HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!!

Respectfully yours,

Ellison Ting
