J.P. Morgan Hosts an Information Security Event Sponsored by Leading Technology Companies
NEW YORK, May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- American Biometric Systems, Datakey (Nasdaq: DKEY - news), Entrust Technologies, Gradient Technologies, Netscape (Nasdaq: NSCP - news), Novell (Nasdaq: NOVL - news) and Symantec (Nasdaq: SYMC - news) -- teamed to present a Wall Street technology seminar entitled ''Integrated Security for the Enterprise.'' Over 100 people from the financial community attended the seminar which was held at the J.P. Morgan Conference Center at 23 Wall Street, on Tuesday, May 12, 1998.
The event highlighted several enterprise security technologies, which represent critical tools for conducting business in today's changing networked computing environment. The seminar included presentations from a variety of security experts on a wide range of topics, including:
Real World Biometrics -- Applications in a Public-Key Infrastructure Cryptographic Smartcards in the Integrated Enterprise Public-Key Infrastructure -- A Non-discretionary Component of a
Corporate IT Environment
Integrated Security Solutions for the Enterprise Directory-based Management and Integrated Security Security for Netscape 5.0.
''Information security is an issue of great concern in the financial community, but an unintended consequence of implementing multiple solutions are multiple logins and multiple administrative domains performing the same function,'' said Ainsley G. Rattray, vice president of Security and Internet Architecture at J.P. Morgan. ''We selected a team of vendors that understand the intricacies of managing information risks in a globally distributed context, and wanted to share with the Wall Street community their ideas for integrated security. One product will not do it all, from a security point of view. Multiple technology integration is key to providing security services successfully across the enterprise. Focusing on vendors that conform to industry standards and understand the value of interoperability is mandatory to a successful security strategy.''
J.P. Morgan is a technology leader in the financial industry and has concentrated on implementing a balanced risk management approach to enterprise security.
''This is the first time, in an event like this, where it was easy to visualize the various components necessary to create a public key infrastructure, said Jenean Paschalidis of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. ''I was very impressed with the event. The vendors were openly soliciting the end users for their opinions.''
Mark Arabadjis of SAIC-Global Integrity Systems said, ''I think the event was an excellent step toward vendors collectively participating in a customer forum on security.''
