I believe that the American Revolution was fueled at least partially by alcohol. It was quite common for people to start drinking at breakfast, and continue on throughout the day. Liquor was a health drink!!

Aside from alcohol, the popular people fuel in colonial times was butter!!! I discovered from reading "Martha Stewart Living" last month that early Americans served their meals with pitchers of melted butter, which they poured liberally on meats, vegetables, and even salads.

I am glad to hear that vegetarianism and Green lifestyles are so resoundingly popular in Germany. They are really much better for the planet. The full Irish breakfast--including a half pound of three or four kinds of meat, including blood sausage, fried of course--is still very popular in Ireland. Fortunately there is a nascent vegetarian movement there as well, however, no doubt fueled by pagans of all sorts. I will have to join forces with them to make the island as "politically correct" as possible!!!!!!!
