I spoke with someone, too, who said that the old firm finished the '97 books, but a new firm has been hired in Houston which is larger and more centralized to their core operations. The N.Y. firm did not have any offices west of the Mississippi.

I also learned that they are in the process of hiring a COO, since they have outgrown their controllers and need someone to oversee and manage all the financial information.

The SEC often questions how numbers are derived. When FAMH became the producers of MD they inherited an extensive tape library of his work. The SEC has to agree with them as to how to value assets like that. When it's all agreed, then Edgar will have the final numbers. Anything preliminary to Edgar is subject to change over this question time period.
