AM - Part 3

Now experimenting with long distance. Factor in potential of 2-3 million customers by the end of year, with the excess capacity we presently have, and it could become very lucrative. We will not use spectum needed by our customers.

Resale - will not launch soon. Service to customers comes first.

No buy out being considered. Our value goes up every day. We manage for long-term value.

GSM. GSM is world standard using 900MHz. Nextel uses 800 MHz. Next year, about this time, we will have dual mode, dual band instrument. Our intention is to provide one phone to use anywhere in the world - consider this one phone, one bill, one telephone number! (Hot stuff in the wireless industry.)

Quality of service. Traffic increasing almost exponentially month-by-month. New York getting second switch this week and the whole system being retuned (this is an art - not easy to do). Most bad stuff is behind us, but agreement that systems must get better - no excuses.

Motorola buyout/takeover? They have no info. Nextel has option of getting other manufacturers products. Two years ago, everyone (except Motorola) didn't think Nextel would create enough demand, so they weren't interested. If anyone buys MOT, they will have the obligation to provide what MOT provides now.

Secure wire. Digital - YES because it is digitally encoded

3rd Generation phones (video) - at least 5 years away.

Business Network. Atlanta and LA tested. (Don't want to screw-up). Better slow and right than fast and wrong.

Nextel International. If its spun off we will benefit. Nextlink/Nextband - can't comment. If Nextel decides to go into other business ventures, it will be discussed. (stay tuned)

Capacity. Varies by city (50%-90%). Two or three switches in some cities. 21 1/2 MHz spectrum. Varies by city. Auction consolidated 10 MHz or 200 of 400 odd channels (techies understand this - I don't). Now have contiguous spectrum which is now being retuned. In the middle of our spectrum is 5 MHz (valuable real estate by our perspective) owned by utilities. Petitioned FCC to buy if private owner wants to sell, and integrate into our network. Utilities interested in our product, applications and technology.

Direct Connect. Facilitated through what is known as a Digital Adjunct Processor (DAP) - another techie topic. Will be introducing computer DAP's (not this year) for large integrated customers like railroads and linking big cities together.

As you can tell, all three posts are not perfectly organized, and I'm sure there are some mistakes. Please feel free to correct, or to better explain.

Folks, this is really a first class company with smarts, vision, and capable leaders. Akerson stated that he would never invest in a company whose management he didn't know. Attending this AM, I got to know this mgmt team and I was impressed. There are different strategies to make money in the stockmarket. Going short, at the proper time is one way. If that's what you do, I strongly recommend that you buy some Nextel to daytrade, and buy some to hold for long-term investing.

Good luck to all!!!

Bernie, tired again.

ps, I'll now read and respond to past posts directed to me
