I hereby nominate all Y2K companies to the Hall of Shame under the hypesters and gasbags categories. Or did I already do this? Sorry, my mind has been going for years.

I won't invest a dime in a KY2 company. Most of these Y2K "magic bullet" companies are full of hot air. There's only one known, guaranteed solution to the Y2K problem. Some geek has to look at the code, line by line. Oh, I know there are exceptions and some systems can be made compliant with a touch of a button, but there are googoojillions of lines of COBOL and C code out there can't be.

I've been to bunches of slick sales pitches for "automated" Y2K solutions and they all had a "but..." at the end, and it involved some poor hack still looking at all the code.
