Jim...
I am a former TC2000 user. I dumped them about 5 years ago when I got to thinking they were too pricey. I also wanted futures prices which they don't have.
Now, I get my EOD data from Primate Software. They have virtually everything and you can get as much or as little of it as you want. It costs about $22/month for up to 250,000 quotes. A quote is one symbol's O,H,L,C and Volume. For options it also includes open interest. I get about 3000 symbols nightly and never come close to the 250,000 limit.
The data comes in Metastock format, which is perfect for OT and, like Julius (and others) I also use WOW. Due to the 255 symbol limits with the MS format, I have broken down my symbols to 40 directories. I know that sounds ridiculous, and for a fact, that's way too many, but it's the way I set it up originally, and I'm not motivated to change it now. It works fine for me.
I have OT retest every 10 days. The way I do that is to have OT do 4 MS directories each night. That runs in the background while I look at charts in WOW. Specifically, I have a group saved in WOW that I call "nearabuy". These are things for the most part that OT gave me earlier and I'm watching them for signals.
Each night I go through the "nab" group while OT does its test. I can dump those OT picks from days earlier that have failed to produce a signal and focus on the ones that are giving a signal for the next day's trading. This usually gets me one or two pretty good picks a week.
When OT has finished retesting, I then go to those 4 directories and see the new signals there. If I like anything well enough, I then put that stock over in my "nearabuy" group in WOW. For the most part, my picks for buying come out of the "nab" group, after the OT signal. I do as Julius does, I use all the OT defaults.
Sorry to be so wordy here. Once I got rolling I couldn't stop <G>.
