My read on it is that like most tech companies, Sun uses stock options as an incentive, resulting in some periodic insider sales. I don't ascribe any significance to such sales unless they are unusually large, and I don't think Sun's have been. I haven't seen much/any stock hype by Sun -- they do, however, promote their products (what company doesn't?); be sure to distinguish the two kinds of "hype." Certainly I do not consider this a "pump-and-dump" company.

The Darwins are a relatively new product. I suspect they are quite profitable. I don't think Sun breaks out profits by product line, so anything past that is speculation.

"Unix/scientific" is a pretty significant "niche." I don't know what you mean by the "/" in that appellation -- I believe Sun also does "Unix/business," "Unix/process control," "Unix/telecommunications," and probably some others.

JMHO, of course.
