Possible to do a press release on a Sunday? Yes. For publicly held companies, significant news must be released to everyone simultaneously. This can be done with both BusinessWire and PRNewswire ... the two "push-distribution" wires for corporate news. If I were doing it, I also would make sure that I talked on the phone with a real, live person at Associated Press to make sure that they were aware of the news (and FAX them a copy for backup). If AP decides not to run the news, you are then covered.

Does it make sense? I dunno. Back in the days when I was doing PR for the US Navy, Senator Proxmire used to put out his famous "Golden Fleecing Awards" press releases late on Friday afternoons, embargoes for use until Sunday morning, ie the Sunday dailies. These got wide coverage in the national press because not too much national news is made in Washington on Saturdays.

If PKGP's management really wanted to catch the shorters unawares, this might be one helluva way to do it.

My bet: no news today (Sunday).
