Larry, I am afraid all the "heavy hitters" on this thread have missed the point. Disintermediation is nothing more than the removal of obstacles between end user and manufacturer (or provider of services/intellectual property). It is the elimination of all possible non value added steps in a distribution system of any kind. Think of disintermediation as "e-commerce" in all its forms.
