Hi Ga Bard. Not that I think anyone will care all that much, but Fluid Catalytic Cracking was actually introduced at Exxon's Baton Rouge refinery in the early 1940's (1943, I believe). The high octane aviation gasoline produced from it gave the Allies an "unfair advantage" over Hitler's planes and contributed significantly to the Allied victory in World War II. I would love to see DF-144 have a comparable impact. I still keep having these nagging concerns over just what is it that's in DF-144 that gives it such a high octane blending number...and whatever it is, is it water soluble?, (like MTBE), is it toxic? (like tetraethyllead), is it carcinagenic? (like benzene), is it mutagenic?, have all the environmental bases been covered by Arcon with as much thoroughness as is needed?...I still see great potential, but there also lots of things for worry warts like me to worry about.
