Y2k...

Sergio:

I'm usually not the one to be an alarmist, but it doesn't look like the majority of the public is fully aware of the consequences of a failure of major companies to get their hands around potential Software and Embedded chip date related failures...

Some time in 1999 it will sink in... People will start withdrawing money from banks and Mutual Funds for fear that their money may be lost after 1/1/2000... The Gov't may have to step in to minimize the amount of money we can withdraw to prevent 1930's style Bank Runs... Of major concern are the power grids across the country... Power interruptions can affect all areas of our lives... Elevators in buildings may not work... Global satellites may not work... Food delivery and processing may be interrupted... Etc., etc., etc...

I'm hoping that the problem will be fixed prior to 12/31/99... But, experts in the field say it all can't be fixed by then... So, we as investors have to make a plan "A" and a plan "B" just in case... Also, we as ordinary citizens have to think what we will do if the supermarkets don't have food, the Gas stations don't have gas, and the power company can't supply electricity...

I don't want to scare anyone... I don't want to be the person that cries Wolf... We are each responsible for our lives and should consider all possibilities that affect our lives and act accordingly...

Jim
