Yousef,
I see you couldn't answer my question straight up but I do appreciate your explanation. If if read you correctly, AMD will NEVER EVER have process technology the equal of Intel and if even IBM does, AMD will have to pay IBM so much that what cost advantage is gained from the smaller die will give way to what IBM charges to fab or package the chips?
I look at the whole thing a bit differently myself. Seems to a layman like me that the K6 is inherently cheaper to make even if AMDs process technology is slightly inferior to Intels. As AMD improves the gap in cost of the chips will widen in favor of AMD. How does Intel fight this irritant? Keep a couple of speed grades above AMD and put pricing pressure on AMD at the high end of the K6s speed grade. Currently 300MHz. Also emphasize benchmarks that make Intel look good. (The good 'ole FPU that doesn't help about 95% of the users.)
This appears to be just what Intel is doing.
On the other hand, Intel has cast it's lot on an inherently higher cost of manufacture chip which jeopardizes their high margins if indeed they have to compete on a price/MHz basis. Here in lies the rub. If AMD can move up a couple speed grades while Intel remains static then Intel could have some interesting choices to make.
Meanwhile, the poor excuse for a processor, aka Celery, isn't going to cut it. The white knight in a bunny suit could be the mendocino but we'll have to see what happens when it rides into town.
What do you think of Kurlaks idea of a cpu glut and subsequent price war?

Take care, Jim
