Here's my 2 cents worth on that one...

If you scan the storage newsgroups and take everything at face value and assume it is representative of entire universe of Syquest users, you'd have to believe nearly everyone has problems and that Syquest will be history before long. That's probably not the case. It's easy to get a distorted perspective, especially because it is difficult to get a feel for what's going and there are limited ways (i.e., usenet, casual conversations) to get a handle on it.

IMO, the percentage of Syquest customers that actually post anything is problably quite small. Further, most users are problably like me - my Sparq works just fine and so far I've had zero problems with it. I've posted to that effect once or twice, but that was in response to someone else's negative comments or request for user experiences. I'm not going to run around announcing to the world that my Sparq is just great and I suspect most others won't either. How many times has anyone following this thread posted an unsolicited message saying something positive about a hardware/software product? Probably not often - there's little to be gained. On the other hand, if you do have problems you may find someone else who knows the answer and so there is something to be gained by negative posts. One would expect posters with issues they can't resolve on their own are going to be the most vocal.
