Other feasible solutions include Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, FDDI, SCSI, SSA, and ServerNet. However, Fibre Channel is clearly the highest performance solution among these choices as is shown in the following chart.>> <<Another reason that we believe Fibre Channel will win over ServerNet in the clustering space is that the latter is more of a proprietary technology. Compaq now "owns" ServerNet through its acquisition of Tandem. As a result, we believe that Compaq's server competition will prefer Fibre Channel since it is a vendor-independent technology. We have seen evidence of proprietary technologies in the I/O space lose out to Fibre Channel in the past.
