Father Terrence,

You'll be pleased to know that I've embarked on a new for-profit venture. Having spent the last 20 years profiteering from the telecommunications revolution (and happy to have helped provide Christine the means for her WWW adventures along the way), I'm now participating in the desktop publishing revolution, which, in fact, I've had my eye on for quite some time now. On the back of one of the books that I bought to learn this business is the following thought-provoking quote from Thomas Carlyle: "He who first shortened the labor of copyists by device of movable type was disbanding hired armies and cashiering most kings and senates, and creating a whole new democratic world: he had invented the Art of Printing". Technology continues to provide new opportunities, and now it is possible for an author to have complete control over his publication, up to the point of the work actually going "On Press". Whereas in the past it would have been necessary to get others to buy into a project, provide specialized services, and share profits, now I can do all of that myself. The decisions, financing, design and production are all mine. And if the product finds a market, so will the profits be (at least until the thugs arrive).
