Brian, I use 3 button mouse, too. Good for those that have to mix with Unix/X environment. However, the point is you can already use multiple button mice in MacOS if you choose. You do, and I do. It might be nice if Apple set forth a standard in their interface guidelines for how the extra buttons should be used IF you have them, but maintain requirements to support one button mice as standard. The one button mouse is GREAT for those learning for the first time, and especially for education, where youngsters would have a difficult time with multiple buttons.
So, I guess I come down closer to Herb Vic, but still in the middle. Keep one button mouse as standard, but establish some standard for how a two button and three button mouse would operate, substituting for single button actions. Put into OS direct support for multiple button mouse in consultation with someone like Logitech. |
