It is tough for the "me too" companies to reproduce and stay compatible without getting sue, or at least threaten to be sued by deep pocket Intel. Those that have seen the electron microscope pictures knew how shitty Intel's process technologies are. So don't be fool be Yousef. Intel's process isn't as good as Motorola or IBM.

Intel's PII 333-350mhz have gate length of about 0.18 micron. K6 is still above 0.2 micron and achieved 300mhz. The small difference in gate length can be 1-2 speed grades (50 per grade). I wouldn't be surprise to see IBM's K6 to be at least 400mhz when shipped since they can tweak their own process better than AMD.
